Activities

ALBA students can participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, and showcases focused on the arts, athletics, and more.

Contact your student’s classroom teacher to learn more about these extracurricular opportunities.

Athletics

ALBA has a co-ed volleyball team. Students can also play basketball and soccer through our after-school Community Learning Center.

Cantos de las Américas

Cantos de las Américas is an annual arts celebration that honors the many cultures of MPS students. At ALBA, third through eighth graders participate under the direction of our parent coordinator. Families enjoy a districtwide artistic performance that showcases the splendor of dances, art forms, and music from a variety of cultural heritages. In the past, this event has featured students performing songs and dances from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe, as well as Hmong, Laotian, and Native American cultures.

Chess Club

Chess Club welcomes all skill levels, from beginner to experienced. Students learn new strategies, practice with friends, and compete in friendly matches and tournaments. Chess builds critical thinking skills, patience, and sportsmanship—come make your move!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run inspires students of all abilities to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy, and strengthen their physical health. Girls experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team as a volunteer coach leads them through fun, powerful lessons. At the end of the season, all team members run a 5K together.
