Students participate in ACE programming, and they attend an MSO concert just for them at the Bradley Symphony Center.

Danceworks: Mad Hot Rhythm

Danceworks inspires our fifth and sixth graders to move their bodies and work together to create performing art. Participation in Mad Hot Rhythm boosts self-confidence and creativity, promotes respect, and teaches children that creative movement feels great!

First Stage

Arts-integrated workshops and theater trips help scholars develop an appreciation for the performing arts and see themselves as performers.

FoodWIse

This six-week nutrition program educates families and students about the best choices for planning and creating healthy meals and snacks.

Learning Journeys

Learning Journeys are educational field trips for all MPS students that are designed to take what students are learning in the classroom out into the real world. These annual opportunities aim to expand students’ career awareness (K3–grade 3) and help them explore potential careers (grades 4, 5, and 8).

Milwaukee Art Museum Junior Docent Program

The Milwaukee Art Museum Junior Docent School Program invites students in grades three through five to explore the visual arts during 10 visits to the Milwaukee Art Museum. This personalized, three-year course of study teaches vocabulary and history, and students develop cultural and historical awareness. They earn “Junior Docent” status after selecting, researching, and presenting a favorite item from the museum’s collection!

Milwaukee Ballet’s Relevé Program

Students in second, third, and fourth grade have the opportunity to participate in this year-long ballet training program through weekly classes. The program aims to give them a foundation of ballet training for continued study or for pursuit of areas like music, theater, or sports. Students in the Relevé program showcase their growth during a spring performance that is beloved by students and families alike. They are eligible to receive scholarships to attend classes through Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy.

Neighborhood Environmental Education Project (NEEP) at the Urban Ecology Center

Students visit the Urban Ecology Center (UEC) for field experiences. Through UEC’s Neighborhood Environmental Education Project (NEEP), classes visit local green spaces to learn from UEC educators through hands-on activities. Students may explore local habitats, identify plants, find signs of animal life, or even build forts with classmates! Every trip has a portion outdoors and is engaging for all students and parent chaperones. All three centers have outerwear available to borrow for all participants to explore in any weather.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

To promote positive student behavior and improve learning, Milwaukee Public Schools use a system of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

PBIS is a three-tiered approach that begins by teaching expectations and encouraging collaboration and consistency in classrooms. Teachers and students co-design agreements and routines that align with three districtwide expectations: “Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible.” For students who need more support, higher tiers offer structure, interventions, and follow-up to address specific concerns.

After years of use, MPS and other districts across the country are reporting higher student achievement, improved school environments, and fewer classroom disruptions and student suspensions.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

ALBA offers a wide range of academic, art, enrichment, and wellness programs that support student creativity, engagement, and overall growth.America SCORES Milwaukee America SCORES Milwaukee provides our community’s urban youth with the opportunity to be active and engaged in structured after-school activities.
