As they explained, \u201cWe found ourselves teaching at schools where bilingual students were treated as though their culture and language was a liability rather than an asset.\u201d Thus began the idea for ALBA\u2014where all three still teach today.<\/p>\n
ALBA\u2019s founding group of parents and teachers began with one common goal: to create a bilingual learning environment where families could become truly active in their children\u2019s education. More than twenty years later, we continue to embrace both language and cultural diversity to build on the ethnic background and knowledge of our community. ALBA was designed to allow children to develop solid language skills, appreciation of cultural roots, love for the arts, and confidence to do well in school.<\/p>\n
ALBA started with just 10 staff members and 125 eager students. We have since expanded to serve more than 600 students. Our environment remains close-knit, with all teachers working as a team to see that each individual student succeeds.<\/p>\n
