Attendance

At Audubon Technology and Communication Center, attendance is important to success! EVERY DAY COUNTS!

Please make sure that your child is at school, on time, every day. Our school day starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:25 p.m.

If your child will be absent or late, please contact the office at 090@milwaukee.k12.wi.us or (414) 902-7800. Give your name, your child’s name, grade, teacher, and reason for absence.

Thank you for supporting your child’s attendance at school!

Excused Absence Due to Illness

Illness is a part of everyone’s life. When your child returns to school, please remember to send a note or doctor’s excuse to the main office so the absence can be marked as ‘Excused’.

Absence Due to Appointments and/or Family Request

After-school appointments are always best! If you must take a child out of class for an appointment, please refer to the following fast and simple process:

  • In the morning, send your child to the main office with a note requesting their release. Please indicate whether the child will be picked up, and/or has permission to take the city bus (high school students only).
  • They will receive a hall pass to be waiting for you in the main office when needed.

If you forgot to send a note regarding an appointment, the process is not so fast and simple:

  • We cannot legally release a minor based upon a phone call, email, or fax.
  • We cannot call your child for departure until we see your ID to verify custody.
  • We can only release a child to those listed as an emergency contact.

Please follow the same process for any other family request to be released early.

We suggest you arrive early for your child. It takes time to collect them during transition, physical education, lunch, and school-wide programs.

Truancy

Falling behind in class easily leads to failure. Students are truant if missing 5 full or partial days without a valid excuse per semester. After 5 days of unexcused absences, parents are required to meet with school staff. Review MPS Administrative Policy 8.14: Truancy.
