Lloyd Barbee Montessori School is grateful to our community partners for their ongoing gifts of time, services, resources, creativity, and collaboration.
Bernie’s Book Bank
Bernie’s Book Bank empowers nearly 300,000 children in Chicagoland and Milwaukee to explore new ideas, gain knowledge, and strengthen reading skills through book ownership. Every Lloyd Barbee student receives eight new books, yearly, to read, treasure, and take home through our school’s partnership with the book bank.
Bradford Memorial A.M.E. Church
Members of this neighborhood church volunteer during school programs and as Forward Scholars literacy mentors in our classrooms.
Brady Education Foundation
Creators and scholars designing, building, and collaborating on our school’s third floor are grateful for the Brady Education Foundation’s generous support of the Lloyd Barbee Montessori School Makerspace.
New Hope Missionary Baptist Church
Students stay warm and well supplied for the school day thanks to winter wear donations and school-supply drives sponsored by church members.
GE HealthCare
Employee volunteers from this leading technology healthcare company clean and green the Lloyd Barbee schoolyard, gardens, and other outdoor learn-and-play spaces.
Mount Mary University
Interns from the university’s Art Therapy MS program staff Lloyd Barbee’s serene, student-centered art therapy room and provide weekly sessions to students who are referred by Lloyd Barbee teachers.
Trader Joes
Weekly, free floral arrangements from Trader Joes help our teachers create peaceful and beautiful learning spaces – a Montessori principle. Lloyd Barbee students arrange flowers as a “practical life” learning activity and even dissect flowers during botany lessons.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
