The Brown Street community believes in the importance of parental involvement in each child\u2019s education. In order for a child to achieve at their highest potential, a strong support network must exist. When home and school join together, students receive constant encouragement and motivation to work their hardest on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
This role is designed to help parents and guardians find information about our school and MPS. Ashley Mack is the parent coordinator at Brown Street. You can contact her at mcgheear@milwaukee.k12.wi.us<\/a> or (414) 935-3182.<\/p>\n Families in need can select free items for their students, including outerwear, pants, and shirts in various sizes. Contact our parent coordinator to make an appointment to visit the clothing resource bank.<\/p>\n Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the Family Center in Room 101. The center is open by appointment on school days.<\/p>\n School events that serve as family outreach opportunities include:<\/p>\n We offer a schoolwide newsletter for families with updates on school and community resources, as well as upcoming events. Please check your child\u2019s homework folder or Tuesday folder, or click the links below to view previous newsletters:<\/p>\n School spirit and student enrichment are on the agenda for Parent Teacher Associations and Organizations districtwide. School policies, procedures, and student well-being are the work of School Engagement Councils, established in Milwaukee Public Schools in 1997.<\/p>\n The Brown Street Academy School Engagement Council brings together families, staff, students (when appropriate), and community members to support and inform shared leadership that can lead to increased student achievement.<\/p>\n Members of the council:<\/p>\n You can participate in our School Engagement Council as a voting member or guest.
