Open from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on school days, the program provides structure and supervision by following a 1:15 staff: child ratio. The Safe Place supports Brown Street Academy’s student-achievement and learning goals by offering enrichment activities that prepare youth for high-school, college, and career success.<\/p>\n
The Brown Street Academy Safe Place is led by three partners.<\/p>\n
Milwaukee Public Schools Safe Places charge a nominal program fee, and most Safe Place programs accept Wisconsin Shares childcare subsidies. The inability to pay fees or to receive Wisconsin Shares authorization cannot be a barrier to participation for students.<\/p>\n
