Brown Street Academy partners with leading Milwaukee organizations to provide arts enrichment, character development, free books for students, and much more.<\/p>\n

Alverno College<\/h2>\n

Alverno College is a private Catholic women’s college in Milwaukee. Students from Alverno complete student-teaching and other field experiences at Brown Street.<\/p>\n

Bernie\u2019s Book Bank<\/h2>\n

This organization provides free, age-appropriate books for Brown Street students to take home and keep. Our students each receive eight to ten high-interest, culturally relevant books.<\/p>\n

Crossroads Kids\u2019 Club<\/h2>\n

Crossroads Kids\u2019 Club is a school partnership program that connects local churches with neighborhood schools. Participating churches \u201cadopt\u201d a school and visit twice a month after school to lead engaging activities that support character development, positive relationships, and student growth. Through fun, structured programming and caring mentors, Crossroads Kids\u2019 Club helps students build confidence, strengthen values, and feel supported by their community.<\/p>\n

Marcus Performing Arts Center<\/h2>\n

The Marcus Center offers student matinees for K\u201312 schools at a reduced ticket cost, and all Brown Street students attend a performance each year. Teachers are also provided with in-depth lesson plans and arts-integration opportunities for their classrooms.<\/p>\n

Marquette University<\/h2>\n

Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit university with more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students in 11 nationally and internationally recognized colleges and schools. Students from Marquette complete student-teaching and other field experiences at Brown Street.<\/p>\n

Playworks Wisconsin<\/h2>\n

Playworks Wisconsin\u202fgives kids foundational skills for success on the playground, in the classroom, and in the community. It is a national organization that leverages play to promote healthy behaviors and increase social and emotional learning at recess and throughout the school day. More than 1,000 Wisconsin kids serve as Junior Coach student leaders on the playground by leading games and modeling positive sporting behavior for their peers.<\/p>\n

University of Wisconsin\u2013Milwaukee<\/h2>\n

UW\u2013Milwaukee (UWM) provides affordable, world-class education to 23,000 students from 86 countries. Students from UWM complete student-teaching and other field experiences at Brown Street.<\/p>\n

Urban Ecology Center<\/h2>\n

Milwaukee\u2019s three Urban Ecology Centers provide year-round educational programs for kids, families, and adults of all ages. The centers help make urban parks safer, enrich classroom curriculum, and provide students with the science skills they need to succeed. Brown Street students visit the UEC for field experiences through UEC\u2019s Neighborhood Environmental Education Project (NEEP).<\/p>\n
