First Stage
Arts-integrated workshops and theater trips help scholars develop an appreciation for the performing arts and see themselves as performers.
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin
The Junior Achievement of Wisconsin program inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. Junior Achievement of Wisconsin provides activities, guides, thought leadership and other resources to support age-appropriate learning about leadership, jobs, money and more. Lessons are organized according to the Milwaukee Public Schools Social Studies curriculum and are implemented in K5 classrooms, continuing through fifth grade.
Love My Air Wisconsin (LMA WI)
LMA WI is a school-based program that provides real-time air quality data to schools via a sensor. School staff and families can then use the data to make informed decisions about student exposure to poor air quality. Teachers can also incorporate the air quality data into lesson plans to provide hands-on, practical learning opportunities for students. Students, families, school staff, and community members all benefit from LMA WI’s air quality education, and the opportunity to take action steps to protect their health.
Milwaukee County Zoo Animal Ambassadors
Second, third, and fourth graders develop a deep understanding of the relationship between humans, animals, and our environment through classroom lessons, Milwaukee County Zoo field trips, and in conversation with Zoo educators (animal experts). The program ends with a celebration of conservation for new “animal ambassadors.”
My Very Own Library
Supported by Scholastic Book Fairs, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County has provided half a million books to students in more than a dozen schools district-wide and credited more than $1 million back to school budgets. The books are paid for by United Way and our sponsors so that no child or their family needs to find the money to be able to find themselves lost in a book.
Playworks Wisconsin
In 2023, Playworks Wisconsin ensured more than 23,000 children in 64 elementary schools and youth serving organizations across Wisconsin — including Browning School — experienced safe and healthy play, including over 700 educators and youth professionals trained statewide. Over 1,000 Wisconsin kids serve as Junior Coach student leaders on the playground by leading games and modeling positive sporting behavior for their peers.
SHARP Literacy
Third and Fourth graders are coding and competing in SHARP Literacy’s Design Through Code program.
STARBASE
STARBASE Wisconsin is an interactive academic program that helps youth increase their knowledge in STEM. Fifth grade students are taken on a five-week odyssey into the exciting world of the sciences through hands-on activities and experiments, technology projects, and interaction with professionals in STEM fields. The U.S. Department of Defense has funded STARBASE programs around the country for over 20 years. As the largest employer of civilian and military scientists and engineers, the DoD recognizes the importance of inspiring students to pursue STEM fields.
