MPS Schools Will Move to Single Calendar

At the December 21, 2023, meeting of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, a resolution was passed that will move all MPS schools to a single calendar. Beginning in Fall 2024, school will start after Labor Day.

Families can learn more about school calendars or view calendars on the MPS School Calendars webpage.

MPS community is urged to take survey on expected budget shortfall for public schools

Students, families, staff, and community members are urged to provide their feedback about an expected budget shortfall for public schools. Wisconsin public schools are facing budget concerns because of insufficient state funding. Had state funding kept pace with inflation, MPS would have more than $210 million in additional support annually. Also, students with disabilities, who make up 19% of the MPS student population, are significantly underfunded by the state, by at least $50 million annually.

You are invited to watch this 45-second video for more information.

After watching the video, you are invited to take this survey. Your input will be shared with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.

MPS Family Interest Survey

Thank you to those families who filled out MPS’ Family Interest Survey. The MPS administration has decided to leave the survey open to allow families who did not have an opportunity to take it to do so. The survey officially closed on December 4, 2023, but will stay open indefinitely to accommodate feedback from more families, students, and community members. Families were sent a link to the survey to their email address or you can register to have a new survey sent to them using the following link: https://mpsresearch.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cFLniRdYbnDdf0O Please consider filling out the survey as it helps our school to make informed decisions.

Have a great weekend!
