Burdick Buzz, 05/16/2025

May 16, 2025 | News

Greetings Burdick Families!
We kicked off Friday with a little unexpected adventure—no power at school! While some might panic at the thought of 500 kids and zero electricity, Burdick did what Burdick does best: we got creative. From flashlight storytime to some very enthusiastic rounds of charades, our staff and students made the most of it. Who needs Wi-Fi when you’ve got imagination (and a good supply of snacks)?
And that was just the end of an exciting week…

đŸŽ” Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Reinholz đŸŽ”
If you’ve ever tapped your foot at a school concert, been serenaded by a classroom full of kinders, or witnessed the 7th and 8th grade band bring down the house—you’ve experienced the magic of Mrs. Reinholz.
As Burdick’s talented music teacher, Mrs. Reinholz brings rhythm, harmony, and heart to our halls every single day. Whether she’s teaching students how to keep a beat, preparing them for their first big performance, or conducting full-band arrangements with our middle schoolers, she does it all with patience, humor, and an infectious love of music.
The work that Mrs. Reinholz puts into the winter and spring concert is nothing short of spectacular. Under her direction, each class performs with confidence and joy, and the band blows us away with their talent and teamwork. It’s no small feat to turn a gym into a concert hall—but somehow, Mrs. Reinholz makes it look easy.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Reinholz is just as dynamic. She plays trumpet in the American Legion Band, loves seeing live music and hanging with her family. And don’t let her size fool you because Mrs. Reinholz is tough as nails. She is a former member of the Brew City Bruisers, Milwaukee’s flat track roller derby league—which explains why she can command a room full of kindergarteners and a middle school band without breaking a sweat.
Burdick is lucky to have a teacher who brings both creativity and authenticity into every space she’s in. Thanks for everything you do, Mrs. Reinholz!
1. How long have you worked at Burdick? 3 years
2. What was your favorite school subject when you were a kid, and do you still love it? Music (of course), but I also loved math team and writing.
3. If the school had a theme song that played every morning, what song would you choose? “We are family” by Sister Sledge
4. What is your favorite school tradition or event, and why is it special to you? Our school concerts! I love seeing kids shine. I also love a good field day—those are core memories for everyone.

🎒 8th Grade Camp Adventures
Our 8th graders returned from Camp Whitcomb-Mason with stories, smiles, and a few muddy shoes! From team-building challenges to canoeing and late-night campfire fun, it was a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you to the staff and parents who chaperoned and made this trip safe, meaningful, and fun!
🐣 Baby Chicks in Mr. Cerfus’ Room
It’s been an egg-citing week in Mr. Cerfus’ science class—his students successfully hatched a brood of baby chicks! Students got to observe the life cycle in real-time and learn about responsibility, biology, and the joy of new life. We’re all a little obsessed!
đŸŽ¶ Spring Concert Success
Thank you to all who attended and cheered on our students—you helped make the evening magical!
💐 Thank You for Supporting Staff Appreciation Week
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all families who donated treats, supplies, and kind words during Staff Appreciation Week. Your support filled our hearts (and bellies!) and reminded us just how special the Burdick community is. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

We want to give a very special shoutout to Mrs. Annie Kubes for her incredible work coordinating Staff Appreciation Week! From securing donations to organizing volunteers, she went above and beyond to make sure our team felt valued and celebrated.

Thanks to her leadership, creativity, and attention to detail, the week was filled with thoughtful surprises and meaningful moments. Our staff truly felt the love!

Thank you, Mrs. Kubes, for helping make Staff Appreciation Week such a success! 💐👏
