Staff Spotlight
At the heart of Burdick School is our incredible head secretary, Ms. Mallo! She keeps everything running like clockwork, managing the endless tasks of a busy school day with efficiency and grace. Her knack for keeping everyone on point—whether it’s staff, students, or families—ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
Ms. Mallo’s thoughtfulness shines in the little things, like remembering birthdays, supporting students who need an extra boost, and always being ready to lend a helping hand. Her sense of humor is second to none, lightening the mood even during the busiest times and making the office a fun and welcoming space.
Her school spirit is contagious! Whether it’s dressing up for Spirit Week or encouraging everyone to participate in school events, Ms. Mallo inspires the whole Burdick community to get involved and have fun.
Thank you, Ms. Mallo, for being the heart and soul of Burdick School—you truly make it a better place for everyone! 💙✨
  1. How long have you worked at Burdick? This is my 6th school year at Burdick.
  2. What was your favorite school subject when you were a kid, and do you still love it today? My favorite subject when I was in school was geography because I wanted to be a teacher. I guess it is still my favorite subject because one of my daydreams is to travel the world!
  3. If the school had a theme song that played every morning, what song would you choose? I would pick “Happy” by Pharrell because I am always happy to see the kids!
  4. What’s your favorite school tradition or event, and why is it special to you? I love Spirit Week because I love to see the creative ideas that everyone comes up with and we get to have fun with our peers.

Family Leadership
Your Voice Matters!
As we dive into the second half of the school year, our School Engagement Council (SEC) and Family-Teacher Team (FTT) needs your help to keep the momentum going!
The SEC plays a vital role in shaping the future of Burdick by helping guide decisions that impact our students, staff, and families. This is your chance to have a seat at the table, share your ideas, and make a lasting difference in our school community.
The FTT plays a huge role in hosting the fun and engaging family events that make Burdick so special, but we can’t do it without more support. Whether you can lend a hand at events, share ideas, or just want to stay involved, your participation makes a big difference.
Let’s work together to ensure Burdick remains a place where every student can thrive—join the SEC or FTT and help us finish the year stronger than ever!
School Engagement Meeting is held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
Family-Teacher Team Meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
Winter Recess Policy
Burdick’s recess will be held indoors when the temperature, including wind chill, is 10 degrees or lower. Our goal is to have students outside as much as possible, but we understand that not all students may be prepared for the colder weather. If your child is in need of winter gear, please let us know—we’re here to help! Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping all our students safe and comfortable during the winter months.
Enrolling for 2025-2026 School Year
Burdick is enrolling! Do you know a child who will turn 4, or 5 by September 1, 2025? It’s time to think about kindergarten! Kindergarten enrollment for Fall 2025 will begin in February 2025!
Families who are interested in enrolling their child at Burdick are invited to learn more about our program during our K4-3rd Grade Family Literacy Night on Thursday, February 6th from 5:30-6:30 pm.
