Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Augustine – Celebrating Social Workers Week!
This Social Workers Week, we are thrilled to spotlight Mrs. Augustine, Burdick’s compassionate and dedicated school social worker. She is a true advocate for our students and families, always providing unwavering support through community resources, emotional guidance, and a listening ear. Her empathy and ability to see the strengths in everyone make her an invaluable part of our school community.
Mrs. Augustine works tirelessly to uplift and empower students, whether through leading small groups for students, coaching Girls on the Run, or leading classroom team-building experiences at Potters Forest ropes course. Her heart is always with our students and families, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and supported. Staff members also turn to her for guidance in difficult situations, knowing she approaches every challenge with wisdom, kindness, and a student-first mindset.
Beyond her work at Burdick, she recently accomplished an incredible personal goal—finishing a marathon! Her perseverance and dedication serve as an inspiration to us all.
Thank you, Mrs. Augustine, for all that you do! Your impact reaches far beyond the walls of our school, and we are so grateful for you. Happy Social Workers Week! 💙👏🏃‍♀️
  1. How long have you worked at Burdick? Since Fall of 2013 – so, this is my 12th year!
  2. What was your favorite school subject when you were a kid, and do you still love it today? I always have loved learning so all subjects were my favorite except History but only because I have a hard time remembering dates.
  3. If the school had a theme song that played every morning, what song would you choose? I would choose “Unwritten” by Natasha Beddingfield because I think it speaks to the fact that each day begins with limitless possibilities for things you can do to make the world a better place.
  4. What is your favorite school tradition or event, and why is it special to you? The Girls on the Run Annual 5K is my favorite school event because I get to see the girls accomplish a goal that they spent so much time and effort working towards. I also love seeing how their families and our school community come together to acknowledge and support the girls meeting their 5K goals!

Congratulations to Our Solo Ensemble Performers!👏🎤🎻🥁🎺
Twenty-three Burdick Middle School students showcased their musical talents at Solo Ensemble last weekend, demonstrating dedication, hard work, and bravery in performing for judges and an audience. Each student should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Their passion for music and commitment to excellence continue to make Burdick proud. We look forward to seeing their future achievements—keep up the great work! 🎶👏
Of course none of this would have been possible without our amazing music teacher Mrs. Reinholz! Thank you for continually inspiring our students to do great things!

Burdick’s 4th Graders Become Zoo Ambassadors! 🦁🐧
Our 4th-grade students are taking their learning beyond the classroom by participating in the Zoo Ambassador Program at the Milwaukee County Zoo! By the end of this yearlong program, they will have visited the zoo 4 times and expanded their knowledge of wildlife conservation, animal behavior, and environmental stewardship. This hands-on experience allows them to explore the zoo in a new way while developing leadership and communication skills. We are so proud of our young ambassadors and definitely see some zoologists in our future! 🐾🌿👏
