A.E. Burdick School partners with leading local and national organizations to enrich student learning, support wellness, and connect with the community.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement USA is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Burdick students experience Junior Achievement programming through Junior Achievement Wisconsin.
Mental Health America of Wisconsin
Through the School Community Partnership for Mental Health, therapists from Mental Health America of Wisconsin spend one to two days per week at Burdick School. As trusted members of our school community, therapists work with the teachers and the school social worker, psychologist, counselor, and parent coordinator. They get to know students and families and provide age-appropriate, evidence-based wellness workshops and therapies.
Milwaukee County’s Master Gardener Program
Master Gardener Volunteers provide advice and help maintain the prairie in our green schoolyard.
Milwaukee Garden District Neighborhood Association
The Garden District Neighborhood Association works with Burdick School to provide resources and strengthen our neighborhood community. Burdick students love singing in the tree lighting ceremony every December!
Reflo
Playgrounds across MPS are greener and healthier thanks to a partnership with Reflo. This environmental nonprofit works with other organizations to design, construct, and renovate MPS schoolyards like ours, which opened in 2019. Reflo combines environmental education, water management, and child’s play to create greener, healthier playgrounds. Each project is tailored to the specific needs and enthusiasm of the school’s community and can include outdoor classrooms, recreational facilities, and arts opportunities.
Zoological Society of Milwaukee
The Zoological Society of Milwaukee supports the Milwaukee County Zoo and works to conserve wildlife and the environment. Innovative programs like Animal Ambassadors educate our community. Burdick students in grades two through four learn about the animal kingdom, our shared environment, and more.
