Our 1st Grade Girl Scout Troop 11355 is working to “Scare Away Hunger” this fall! They’re collecting non-perishable food items for St. Veronica and the Hunger Task Force. A donation box will be placed in the school offices now thru November 14th. Let’s help our Scouts make a difference before Thanksgiving!

A Message from our Art Teacher, Ms. Rhiannon

I am so excited to create, explore, and build up the art program this year.  I’d love for the students to be able to document their art work in a more professional way – so they can feel like the true artists they are!

I learned about a cool platform, Artsonia, that does just that.  Through Artsonia, your child will be able to look back on old creations, write reflections on their artwork, and you’ll be able to see their masterpieces (even if it doesn’t make it into their backpack!)

I added the students first contact email (from Infinite Campus) to to their account so you can get access to their account and view their work.  This is only being used for students at Upper Campus.

Please Label Your Child’s Items

The Lost and Found areas at both campuses are growing quickly! Last year, we donated nearly a pallet’s worth of unclaimed items – much of it winter gear.

Please take a moment to label all of your student’s belongings, from coats and hats to lunchboxes and water bottles. This simple step makes it much easier to reunite lost items with their owners. Labeling is just as important for your 8th grader as it is for your K3 student as items tend to go missing at every age! Use a thin sharpie to write your child’s full name on the label and please write their names in both shoes.

As the weather turns colder, please also ensure that younger students have an extra set of warm clothing in their backpacks or bookbags. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to swap out lighter clothing for cold-weather gear and of course, please label everything!

The LC Lost and Found is located outside of the office.

The UC Lost and Found is located outside of the cafeterias.

Reminder to Club, Group and Sports Leaders

A quick reminder: please remember that eating is permitted only in the cafeteria.

If you haven’t already done so, please send Ms. Tanya, our secretary, your group’s roster at your earliest convenience.

Additionally, it’s important to confirm your meeting dates and preferred location with Ms. Tanya, especially if your group meets monthly. This ensures that all information is accurately reflected on the official school calendar and helps keep everyone informed.

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to these details!

Student Well-Being Survey

Student well-being is an important part of social-emotional health. Student education improves when we pay attention to well-being. Milwaukee Public Schools wants to improve student well-being. MPS listens to student feedback to enhance our students’ learning experience.

The Student Well-Being Survey is new this year. Students in third through twelfth grade will give feedback using this survey. The survey asks students to rate their feelings and experiences at school.

This survey will be taken three times per year: November 3-21, 2025; February 9-25, 2026; and May 18-29, 2026. The survey will take about 10 minutes. The results will not identify your child. Your child’s individual responses will not be viewed by school staff. Student responses will be grouped to help staff choose schoolwide supports and services.

If you do not want your child to share their feedback, please call your child’s school to inform them of your request.

Food Share and Food Insecurity Help

Due to the ongoing federal government shut down, refugee families and about 42 million Americans will have their benefits for Foodshare delayed in November. Here is a link from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to check for up to date information.https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/foodshare/news.htm

To locate food pantry information and other supports, individuals can search for locations at findhelp.org

Click on this list sent by Hunger Task Force – includes local food pantry information and hot meal program locations.

Food collection bins will soon be placed in all MPS schools.  Please place any non-perishable food donations in the bins.  Thank you!
