Now in its twelfth year of existence, Bay View Montessori School began in 2012-13 as a small school on Howard Avenue. We have expanded to two campuses. Our lower campus is still on Howard Avenue, serving K3, K4, and K5 students. Our upper campus is on Dover Street, serving students in grades one through eight. Our students Exceed Expectations on our school report card, earning four stars (out of a maximum five stars) according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Bay View Montessori School offers a welcoming and peaceful learning environment with exceptional teachers.
As principal, I continue to update and communicate with families frequently via the Milwaukee Public Schools email system. Our Bay View Montessori newsletter is delivered through our school website and school messenger once a week, on Fridays. You will also receive updates throughout the week as needed. Our website is also a “one stop shop” to stay informed about the happenings in our community. Communication is key to our successful school.
Another way to receive personalized information and to be engaged in conversations related to the Bay View Montessori community is to attend our monthly PTO meetings. We will share the schedule for our meetings on the school calendar each month and by email.
Elementary and adolescent students are welcome to participate in sports and after-school activities. We are always eager to offer before- or after-school activities to students. Like athletics, after-school arts, cultural, and academic clubs depend on parent volunteers during the school year.
Families have been celebrating the labors of five years of planning our new upper campus playground. We developed an environmentally friendly space for students with the inclusion of upgrades to the basketball courts, track, soccer field, and climbing structure. Please take the time to walk through the meadow, the four outdoor classrooms and along the brick edged pathways to see the engraving of contributors to our cause.
The bio-swales have served as a learning experience, as they reduce stormwater run-off into the sewer system. Your children learn about the benefits of this water-saving piece of green infrastructure. They benefit from a true environmental Montessori education by caring for the earth and seeing how the addition of trees and permeable surfaces have helped our planet.
At our Howard Avenue lower campus, primary children (K3, K4, K5) can use a new outdoor classroom on their playground this school year. Through federal funding, every MPS school received an outdoor classroom.
We are here working to support you. Reach our lower campus at (414) 935-0700 and our upper campus at (414) 914-9800. Dial (414) 935-0700, and you will go through a voice mail of campus selections. To bypass those choices, press “0” and you will be connected to a secretary. We will transfer calls between buildings when necessary. Teachers and staff answer parent and family email messages, as well.
The MPS website is a great source for staying updated on the latest news from the district. Please do not hesitate to ask us for anything you need!
My door is always open to you. During the school day, I travel between our school’s two campuses. To reach me, please contact our school secretary at (414) 914-9800 or email me. I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
With Best Regards,
