In 1892, Anna Frances Doerfler became one of the first female principals in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).<\/p>\n

Born on April 24, 1867, Ms. Doerfler was educated in Milwaukee. She became a teacher in 1887 and a principal five years later. In 1907, she became the principal of Scott Street School.<\/p>\n
When Scott Street School’s new building (our current facility) was erected in 1912, Ms. Doerfler escorted the entire student body to their new educational environment. She remained principal of this building until her death in 1922. Later that year, the school\u2019s name was changed to Anna F. Doerfler School in recognition of her dedication as an educator.<\/p>\n
