Activities

Academic growth and character development matters all day and every day at Andrew S. Douglas Middle School.

Students can continue this important work and have fun when they join an after-school club or activity. No matter what recipe they make in Chef’s Club or how fast they run a mile, students can gain new skills and knowledge and develop a stronger sense of self confidence and school pride in extracurricular activities.

Most clubs and teams meet twice each week. Ask our parent coordinator or your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.

Chef’s Club

Need chili bowls and cupcakes for Douglas Middle School family night? Muffins and punch for our annual awards breakfast? Call Chef’s Club. Students learn to menu plan, measure, and cater working with mentors in our fully equipped family and consumer studies lab.

Esports

Douglas gamers compete in the Rocket League, affiliated with the Electronic Gaming Foundation’s Youth Esports League (EGFY). Students prepare for competition in our school’s new esports lounge, featuring eight gaming stations, two consoles, rules and regulations, and comfortable furniture.

Student Council

Student choice and student voice drive the agenda for Douglas Middle School Student Council. Staff select three students from each grade to serve as student ambassadors and event planners who help coordinate our spirit week, talent show, and eighth-grade completion events. Student Council members serve double duty as members of our Student Discipline Committee. Each group meets once per month.

Tech Team

Douglas Middle School provides advanced technology and computer-science curriculum to students as a member of the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools Alumni Network. Tech Team students take it a step farther learning to write complex code and design apps. These trained technicians can make simple repairs to school keyboards and Chromebooks. They meet during the school day.

Twilight Center

Milwaukee Recreation and Douglas host a Twilight Center. Any student between 10 and 14 can drop in to play basketball, board games, esports, and ping pong. Workshops teach the basics of money management, music production, edible arrangements, and babysitting. Twilight Center programming is free, flexible, and supervised. Programs vary by season and instructor availability.

Athletics

The Douglas Hawks soar as student-athletes and team players in several sports: basketball, coed cheerleading, coed flag football, coed soccer, coed volleyball, and coed track and field.

Practices and games welcome athletes and families to our new gymnasium, equipped with bleachers and AV technology for fans and motivational murals, Douglas Hawks uniforms, and sports equipment for athletes.
