Teachers and staff communicate behavioral goals in student-friendly language (in English and in Spanish) and review them regularly. Students in every grade can participate in Forest Home traditions that promote recognition, responsibility, school pride, and community building:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BLMA Buddies \u2013 Milwaukee Public School\u2019s Department of Black &amp; Latino Male Achievement designed this program to promote Black and Latino male mentorship and leadership for our male students of color in fourth and fifth grade. Forest Home teachers and students team up with their BLMA Buddies at nearby South Division High School for this important work.<\/li>\n<li>Carnival \u2013 Parents, staff, and mascot Forest E. Eagle host this school-wide celebration of academic and behavioral accomplishments at the end of each year. Games, prizes, rides, and recognition make this event a favorite for all.<\/li>\n<li>Honor Roll \u2013 The Forest Home Avenue School Honor Roll recognizes K3 to fifth-grade students for academic and behavioral accomplishments. Teachers select Honor Roll students monthly.<\/li>\n<li>Student Council \u2013 Team building, problem-solving, and volunteering in school service projects are the work of fourth- and fifth-grade student council members. Students lead school tours and serve as lunchroom and hallway monitors, in addition to other responsibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>PBIS for Staff<\/h2>\n<p>Gathering and evaluating school-level data are fundamental pieces of a school\u2019s PBIS framework. Forest Home Avenue School\u2019s PBIS implementation team meets monthly to review and analyze data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To diagnose problems or gaps and select strategies to address these challenges.<\/li>\n<li>To identify successes and refine and duplicate the strategies behind them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since 2021, our PBIS progress includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Favorable staff and family feedback on Forest Home\u2019s climate and culture surveys.<\/li>\n<li>Modified student check-in\/check-out process to promote school attendance and improve communication between school and home.<\/li>\n<li>Gold- (2021-22) and silver-level recognition (2022-23) for student behavior from Wisconsin\u2019s Response to Intervention (RtI) Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forest Home Avenue School follows the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to nurture a calm, caring school climate where every student is respected and ready to learn.PBIS framework guides our staff and students in setting achievable and meaningful expectations for classroom and community behavior school-wide.
