Gaenslen School hosts an after-school program through its Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center at Gaenslen School<\/em> is an after-school enrichment program for K4 through eighth-grade students.<\/p>\n<p>The Gaenslen School Community Learning Center is led by three partners.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Milwaukee Recreation<\/li>\n<li>Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee<\/li>\n<li>Gaenslen School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Every <em>Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center<\/em> offers a healthy snack or light dinner, and supervised, structured academic enrichment opportunities that reinforce what students are learning in school.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic Enrichment: Math and reading support<\/li>\n<li>Arts Programming<\/li>\n<li>College and Career Readiness<\/li>\n<li>Family Engagement Activities<\/li>\n<li>Social and Emotional Learning<\/li>\n<li>Youth Development Activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Fees<\/h2>\n<p>Milwaukee Public Schools\u2019 21st CCLC programs may charge nominal program fees. The inability to pay fees or to receive Wisconsin Shares authorization cannot be a barrier to participation for students.<\/p>\n<p>For fee information, please contact the Gaenslen School Community Learning Center site coordinator, Hollie Benz, at (414) 267-5775.<\/p>\n<p>All Milwaukee Public Schools community learning centers are funded by\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/sspw\/clc\/grant-competition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center federal grant funds<\/a>\u202fthrough a grant agreement with the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction<\/a>. The federal\u202f Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by No Child Left Behind, Title IV, Part B, fund all 21st Century Community Learning Center grants.<\/p>\n<h2>Registration<\/h2>\n<p>Registration forms are available at the school\u2019s 21st CCLC site and must be submitted to the site coordinator. Our program focuses on providing academic support to those students who need it most, while also providing them with recreational, social activities and a meal during their time in the program.\r\n\r\nThe CLC is open Monday \u2013 Friday from 2:35 p.m. \u2013 6:00 p.m. In order to enroll into the Gaenslen CLC program, students must be in 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade. If members do not fit these criteria, they can enroll into the Gaenslen Daycare program which takes K4 & K5 students.\r\nThe Gaenslen CLC program schedule is as follows:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>2:35pm - 3:00pm \u2013 Dinner<\/li>\r\n \t<li>3:00pm - 3:30pm \u2013 Homework<\/li>\r\n \t<li>3:30pm - 4:00pm \u2013 Academic Enrichment Programming<\/li>\r\n \t<li>4:00pm - 5:00pm \u2013 Recreational Programming<\/li>\r\n \t<li>5:00pm \u2013 6:00pm \u2013 Recreational Programming<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThroughout the afternoon, students will have time to get assistance with their homework, participate in additional academic enrichment programming and then rotate through the game room, gym, art and computer lab. Activities include: science programming, dance, basketball & other sports leagues, board games, swimming and other low and high impact organized games.\r\n\r\nThe CLC program has a limited number of students that we can enroll in the program. Families who qualify for W-2 Child Care are encouraged to authorize the Gaenslen Boys & Girls Clubs as their child care provider.
