A Message from the Principal
Dear Grantosa EPIC Family,
The first day of school is almost here! This letter has important information for you and your student(s) as we get ready for school. We are excited to welcome back students and staff! Our expectation is that your student will be ready to learn on Day One.
The first day of classes for all schools will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The full district calendar for the 2024-25 school year is available in multiple languages.
Is Your Information Up to Date?
It is very important that MPS has the most accurate information for you and your student, including address, phone, email, and emergency contact information. Please log in to Campus Parent at mpsmke.com/parentportal or through the Infinite Campus mobile app as soon as possible to make sure the information is accurate.
If you don’t have a Campus Parent account, please contact the school and/or the parent coordinator for assistance to set up your account. To contact our school:

Transportation
Watch for mail! If your child is eligible to ride the bus to school, you should receive a postcard with details in the mail about a week before school starts. You will be reminded of the information on the Friday before school starts, by email, text, or call.
If your child’s address and enrollment are inaccurate in Infinite Campus (link above), it could create issues for your student’s busing schedule. More information is available on the MPS transportation webpage.
Free Breakfast and Lunch
MPS is proud to offer free breakfast and lunch that follow USDA guidelines to every student in the district on school days. We encourage all students to participate in the meal program.
New this school year: Students will have more options — they will have more than one lunch entrée to choose from every day.
For more information, watch the MPS Nutrition Services webpage for updates.
Be Ready on Day One
You can help your child get ready for school in the weeks leading up to Day One.
- Get into a school routine. Start setting an appropriate bedtime and wakeup time a week or more before school begins.
- Prepare the night before. Getting in the habit of planning the next day’s outfit will reduce the morning rush.
- Get school supplies ready. The school supply list for preschool through middle school students is on the MPS website. High school instructors will tell their students which supplies are needed.
- Read to or with young children and encourage older students to read.
- Immunize children before school starts. It’s required by law, and it will reduce illnesses and harm to children. Be sure to provide the records to the school. For the right immunizations, call your doctor or the Milwaukee Health Department at (414) 286-8034. See more at the MPS immunizations webpage.
Please let me or my staff know of any questions you might have by contacting the school office.
Everyday counts — it’s very important that your child is in school and on time daily. We are looking forward to seeing your child in class!
Sincerely,
Thaddeaus Hilliard
