Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Families and teachers develop a true partnership, and students do their best work in schools that build peace, positivity, and consistency into their culture.

This is why Grantosa Drive joins schools across the U.S. and throughout MPS to implement the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support framework (PBIS). Evidence based yet customizable to reflect our mission and vision, PBIS at Grantosa Drive sets school-wide expectations for student success and well-being:

  • Be responsible.
  • Be respectful.
  • Be safe.

Our PBIS practice is collaborative, data driven, and positive.

  • At the start of each school year, families learn about PBIS expectations and stay informed through our ClassDojo app. Teachers and students modify classroom expectations as needed.
  • Teachers and administrators meet monthly to review data on student behavior, attendance, and academics. We can pivot our PBIS efforts to focus on lunch or recess behavior, quiet transitions between classes, or problem-solving communication in classrooms.
  • Daily announcements, family newsletters, hallway posters, and other communications proactively reinforce PBIS expectations and strategies.
  • Grantosa’s award winning Big Dragon/Little Dragon Peer Mentoring Program provides more intensive support to students who struggle. In this program, older students who demonstrate PBIS success mentor younger students, check in with them daily, and the pair meet weekly with our school psychologist who runs the program.

There is incredible power in positivity.

  • Monthly incentives like pizza parties, film screenings, and field trips keep students focused on their responsibilities, and rewarded for their successes.
  • Weekly EPIC Scholar and EPIC Behavior rewards recognize student excellence and improvement. Students and teachers collaborate on nominations.

Consider what PBIS expectations might look like in your home, and how to recognize your child when they are being safe, responsible, and respectful.
