Milwaukee Public Schools with AGR funding implement key strategies in their kindergarten through third-grade classrooms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Class sizes of 18:1 or 30:2<\/li>\n<li>One\u2212to\u2212one tutoring provided by a licensed teacher<\/li>\n<li>Instructional coaching for teachers provided by a licensed teacher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Fresh Fruit &amp; Vegetable Program<\/h2>\n<p>Twice a week, students at 83 schools district-wide receive a healthy snack and a nutrition lesson through this federally funded program. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program supports community and student health by increasing the volume and variety of fruits and vegetables that Milwaukee school children eat.<\/p>\n<h2>Junior Achievement<\/h2>\n<p>We have a strong partnership with the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin program, which inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. Junior Achievement of Wisconsin provides activities, guides, thought leadership and other resources to support age-appropriate learning about leadership, jobs, money and more. Lessons are organized according to the Milwaukee Public Schools Social Studies curriculum and are implemented in K5 classrooms, continuing through eighth grade.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning Journeys<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mpsmke.com\/learningjourneys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learning Journeys<\/a> are educational field trips for all MPS students that are designed to take what students are learning in the classroom out into the real world. These annual opportunities aim to expand students\u2019 career awareness (K4\u2013grade 3) and help them explore potential careers (grades 4, 5, and 8).<\/p>\n<h2>Playworks Wisconsin<\/h2>\n<p>In 2023, Playworks Wisconsin ensured more than 23,000 children in 64 elementary schools and youth serving organizations across Wisconsin \u2014 including Grantosa Drive School \u2014 experienced safe and healthy play, including over 700 educators and youth professionals trained statewide. Over 1,000 Wisconsin kids serve as Junior Coach student leaders on the playground by leading games and modeling positive sporting behavior for their peers.<\/p>\n<h2>STARBASE Wisconsin<\/h2>\n<p>STARBASE Wisconsin is an interactive academic program that helps youth increase their knowledge in STEM. Fifth grade students are taken on a five-week odyssey into the exciting world of the sciences though hands-on activities and experiments, technology projects, and interaction with professionals in STEM fields. The US Department of Defense has funded STARBASE programs around the country for over 20 years. As the largest employer of civilian and military scientists and engineers, the DoD recognizes the importance of inspiring students to pursue STEM fields. My passion has always lied in youth engagement and making noise in places that should and need to improve for our future leaders. Data shows that schools that implement PBIS with fidelity see decreases in disruptions and suspensions and increases in student achievement.\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Special Education<\/h3>\r\nThe teaching staff at Grantosa Drive School strive to educate all learning styles to ensure that individual learning needs, special education concerns and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are met.\r\n<h3>CLC (Community Learning Center)<\/h3>\r\n<b>Grantosa\u2019s CLC (Community Learning Center)<\/b> is a recreational and educational program offered through the Boys &amp; Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. Grantosa\u2019s CLC offers parents late pick-up until 6:00pm. We would like to offer before school care, but that has not been solidified yet. If\/when that changes we will update you. During the hours of operation, the children receive Homework Help in Reading, Math, Language, Science, and Social Studies. The academic coordinator ensures that lessons are connected to what children are learning in school.\r\n\r\nCLC has a wide variety of\u00a0recreational activities to keep youth engaged.
