We have now completed <strong>21 days of school attendance<\/strong>, and I am proud to share that <strong>over 75% of our students have achieved perfect attendance<\/strong>. Regular daily attendance is essential as we live out our goal of <strong>all students reading by March 2nd<\/strong>. Please remember, if your child is sick or absent, call the school office so we may excuse the absence.<\/p>\n<p>Our school enrollment this fall reached <strong>499 students<\/strong>. While we fell short of our target of 514 students, we are grateful that this enrollment allows us to keep class sizes low and, through the budget adjustment system, retain all of our dedicated staff. In addition, I am pleased to report that our <strong>suspension rate has decreased compared to last year<\/strong>, showing the positive growth of our school culture.<\/p>\n<p>This year, our school theme is <strong>\u201cExpect Great Things\u201d<\/strong>, and together we are living out our motto: <strong>We Are EPIC<\/strong>\u2014Everyday, Persistent, Innovative, and Committed.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, October brings many important events for our school community:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Picture Day<\/strong> \u2013 October 6<\/li>\n<li><strong>School Book Fair<\/strong> \u2013 October 6\u20139<\/li>\n<li><strong>Parent-Teacher Conferences<\/strong> \u2013 October 7 &amp; October 15<\/li>\n<li><strong>Half-Day Early Release<\/strong> \u2013 October 8 at 2:00 PM for staff literacy training. <strong>Childcare is available for students enrolled in the afterschool program.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bike to School Day<\/strong> \u2013 October 8, starting at Grantosa at 8:00 AM. Students may bring their bikes to school, but all bikes must be taken home by 9:00 AM. Bikes are not permitted on school buses.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No Student Attendance<\/strong> \u2013 October 17 &amp; October 20<\/li>\n<li><strong>8th Grade High School Enrollment<\/strong> \u2013 This month, all 8th grade students must begin selecting their high school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you for supporting our shared priorities of attendance, literacy, and positive school culture.
