Hayes Bilingual School students can participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, and showcases focused on the arts, athletics, community service, and more.
Our teachers, coaches, and parent volunteers take extracurricular activities seriously because they help students explore career interests, develop new talents and skills, and make friends. Students who represent their school out in the community also get a taste of leadership experience and develop stronger school pride!
Hayes Bilingual School extracurricular activities are listed below. Contact our parent coordinator or your student’s classroom teacher to learn more about these opportunities:
America Scores
Third through fifth graders join their America Scores coaches for daily after-school academic enrichment and athletic activities. Coaches help students develop writing and soccer skills through workshops, drills, and other challenges during this 20-week program.
Cientificas (SciGirls)
We are grateful to the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee for supporting Cientificas at Hayes Bilingual School. Girls in grades two through eight explore engineering careers, connect with female mentors, and participate in hands-on STEM projects through Cientificas, which is Milwaukee’s only bilingual STEM program for girls.
Danza Folclórica
Middle school students learn traditional folkloric dance and perform at Milwaukee Public Schools Cantos de las Américas and United Nations celebrations, as well as school programs.
FIRST LEGO League
Students in grades five through eight build LEGO-based robots and compete in engineering tournaments. Coached by adults, supported by teammates, and challenged by competitors, FIRST LEGO leaguers apply real-world math and science content and strengthen their critical-thinking, team-building, and presentation skills.
Student Council
Electing their own student representatives brings students (grades six through eight) into the democratic process. Council members are role models and leaders who plan school dances, talent shows, fundraisers, and deliver school announcements.
