Acceptance and academics go hand-in-hand here. Educators build trust as they teach, encouraging children to express themselves during class discussions, leadership activities, and all-school assemblies. Regular and special education teachers partner to provide learning experiences that unite students from diverse backgrounds and with unique abilities. Older students explore STEM curriculum in two technology labs. Young scholars research and read their way through print and digital materials in our library media center. Inspiration and independence are built into the Holmes School curriculum: children attend weekly art, gym, and music classes to develop their creativity.

“We go above and beyond to meet the needs of the whole child and whole family, by building positive relationships and partnerships to help students feel comfortable, supported, like they have an ally.” – Principal Tayotis Caldwell

As a member of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership, we welcome nonprofit partners to Holmes School as tutors, counselors, artists, and community connectors who serve families beyond the school day. Supervised enrichment and recreational activities at our after-school community learning center reinforce students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development. Monthly meetings of our Family Leadership Organization and Community School Leadership Team bring all voices to the table as we continue, together, to build Holmes School into an inclusive, child-centered learning community.

Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership

Holmes School is proud to be a member of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership (MCSP). Through MCSP, our students, families, teachers, staff, neighbors, and partners come together to form a strategy that best meets the needs of our students. We work toward academic success and personal well-being for our children.

School Community Partnership for Mental Health

Since 2009, the School Community Partnership for Mental Health (SCPMH) has provided intensive, on-site mental wellness programs and mental health services to students and families in Milwaukee Public Schools. The partnership began in just four schools and has expanded to nearly 40 schools, including Holmes School.
