Brother II Sister
A mentoring and leadership group for fifth through eighth graders, Brother II Sister after-school meetings are twice-weekly opportunities for scholars to receive homework help, tutoring support, and learn leadership skills. Mentors are MPS alumni.
Girls Who Walk and Talk
Girls in grades six through eight join mentors from nearby nonprofit HeartLove Place for healthy eating, nurturing conversation, and lunchtime walks.
Youth Leadership Institute
Led by scholars for scholars ages 11-13, this interactive leadership development group meets after school.
Athletics
The Dr. King School Lions compete in four sports throughout the school year. Scholar-athletes in grades one through eight can join our school’s co-ed basketball, cheerleading, flag football, or soccer teams. Middle school basketball players will join a boys’ or girls’ team. Athletes of all skill levels can participate.
