A Focus on the Arts

At Kluge, the arts are at the heart of how our students learn and grow. They receive instruction from full-time specialists in art, music, and physical education, and they participate in a wide range of creative opportunities. We offer a variety of programs through strong, long-standing partnerships with Danceworks, First Stage, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and more.

As a Turnaround Arts school, we are committed to using the arts to deepen student engagement and enhance academic success. Students also have opportunities to showcase their talents through performances and events throughout the year, including seasonal programs and cultural celebrations like our Black History program.

Individualized Support for Learners

Kluge is proud to serve a diverse community of learners. We offer English as a Second Language (ESL) services and provide extensive support for medically fragile students. Our early grades include low student-to-teacher ratios, allowing for more individualized attention and strong foundational learning.

Through City Year and SHARP Literacy, our students benefit from regular reading interventions. This ensures they receive the support needed to make continuous progress and be well-prepared for middle school and beyond.

A Positive School Culture

Kluge is a community-centered school where students, staff, and families feel connected and supported. Everyone is hands-on with all students as they move through each grade level, and our students feel a real sense of family here. Our experienced and dedicated educators create a positive school culture built on respect, compassion, and high expectations. We encourage students to embrace their creativity, persist through challenges, and treat others with dignity.

At Kluge, we believe in educating the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—through the power of the arts. Simply put, Kluge is a great place to be.
