PBIS Expectations
Lincoln Avenue is proud of our success as a silver-medal PBIS School of Merit. Classroom and hallway posters colorfully, clearly state our PBIS expectations in English and Spanish:
- Be Safe.
- Be Responsible.
- Be Respectful.
Safety and Success Through Social and Emotional Learning
The Lincoln Avenue community is built on shared values and expectations that make our school a safe, healthy space for children to learn and grow.
We live these values by listening to and learning from each other. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports committees bring teachers, parents, and community partners together to look at data on student attendance and behavior, family engagement, and academic achievement.
- Teachers noticed that students needed more time to refocus after lunch/recess. Our PBIS team integrated calming practices like sharing circles and meditation into the afternoon schedule.
- When students chose celebrations and incentives that encouraged healthy eating and clean up at lunchtime, our cafeteria became cleaner than ever.
- We invited the district’s Restorative Practices team to help us transform Lincoln Avenue into a true community school, where every voice is heard as school staff, students, families, and community members collaborate to identify what our students need to succeed. The RP teams meets with us monthly.
Bringing PBIS from School to Home
Communicate with your child’s teachers or our parent coordinator to learn more about PBIS at Lincoln Avenue School.
Think about how PBIS can work in your home, and how to recognize your child’s PBIS success. In school and at home, consistency and positivity are key.
