Principal’s Message

Welcome Lincoln Center of the Arts families, current and future!

Danita TylerAs the district’s premier arts middle school, we use the arts to focus on the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of our students.

Additionally, we rely on open communication between home and school. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns, or feedback at any time. Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. Please ensure your child attends school every day on time. Absences and tardiness should be reported to our main office as soon as possible. For detailed policies on excused absences and tardiness, please contact our school social worker.

As a Restorative Practices school, we continue to implement alternatives to suspension when possible. Restorative Practices help us build and maintain healthy relationships to create a caring school community that resolves difficulties and repairs harm where there has been conflict.

Families, you are valued partners in ensuring our students are ready for high school, college, and career. Celebrate our students during seasonal arts showcases. Attend parent-teacher conferences, family events, and meetings of our School Engagement Council. Your feedback is important and always welcome. Therefore, we solicit suggestions for school improvement and encourage you to contact our parent coordinator at nashbn@milwaukee.k12.wi.us to share them any time.

My door is open to you, as well. I’ve learned about supporting students and families by stepping into many roles during 20+ years in Milwaukee Public Schools. This includes 14 as an early childhood teacher and four as a Montessori assistant principal. The 2024-25 school year is my second year as principal at Lincoln Center of the Arts. I find it a privilege to help young people — including my three children — achieve their college and career goals as MPS students and graduates.

Together, we’re making this school year a time of growth, learning, and success for our students. Thank you for your support and partnership in your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Danita Tyler, principal
