This enriching and evidence-based program brings together students from various cultural backgrounds. Bilingual program classrooms are communities where students can deepen their understanding and appreciation of their own culture and experience other cultures while pursuing academic excellence in both languages. All educators teach the same subjects, use the same academic standards, and use appropriate assessments to prepare students for high school.
In Lincoln’s bilingual classrooms:
- English learners receive extra support from an English as a second language teacher (ESL).
- Native English speakers develop high levels of Spanish and English language proficiency as well as high levels of literacy in both languages.
- Native Spanish speakers develop high levels of Spanish and English language proficiency as well as high levels of literacy in both languages.
- Every student has the opportunity to continue developing literacy and language in English and Spanish in an MPS high school and earn the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy.
Parents and families can receive Remind and SchoolMessenger notifications, phone calls, and announcements in Spanish or English, and interpreters are available for school events and celebrations. Bilingual office staff create a welcoming atmosphere for all families, guests, and visitors.
