AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps Wisconsin members serve in cities across our state, in schools and libraries, community clinics and family camps. Wisconsin-based AmeriCorps programs focus on issues that include educational achievement, economic opportunity, environmental protection, addiction recovery, community health, and homelessness. With support from the Milwaukee Library Foundation, AmeriCorps Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Public Library bring LibraryCorps programming to Lowell School.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
IB is a global leader in international education—developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. Their programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast. Lowell School is an IB-authorized provider of the IB Primary Years Programme.
Junior Achievement USA
Junior Achievement USA is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Junior Achievement’s programs in work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century. Lowell School students participate in Junior Achievement programming through Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.
Milwaukee Public Library
Milwaukee Public Libraries staff get to know the schools, residents, and readers living near each of the library’s twelve neighborhood branches, connecting patrons of all ages to vital information. With support from the Milwaukee Library Foundation, AmeriCorps Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Public Library bring LibraryCorps programming to Lowell School.
Milwaukee Public Library Foundation
The Milwaukee Public Library Foundation funds more than 90 percent of Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) programs each year. Foundation-funded MPL programs, services, and materials include adult literacy curriculum, early-childhood literacy and summer reading resources, workforce development classes and certifications, and green infrastructure projects. With support from the Milwaukee Library Foundation, AmeriCorps Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Public Library bring LibraryCorps programming to Lowell School.
Playworks Wisconsin
Playworks Wisconsin has given kids foundational skills for success on the playground, in the classroom, and in the community. Playworks Wisconsin is the leading organization that leverages play to promote healthy behaviors and increase social and emotional learning, at recess and throughout the school day.
Reagan High School
Junior and senior students from MPS’ Reagan High School visit Lowell School monthly to explore careers in education and serve as tutors and role models for younger IB students. Reagan students are joined by a school counselor who guides their work as part of the district’s ACP process (academic and career plans) that prepares MPS seniors to graduate college and career ready.
Reflo
Reflo works with partners including MPS, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, City of Milwaukee, Fund for Lake Michigan, and Community Design Solutions to support area schools in an intensive, collaborative process to design and redevelop greener, healthier schoolyards. Projects are tailored to the specific needs and enthusiasm of the school. Designs go beyond removing pavement to maximize benefits for communities, the environment, and local economy.
Reflo is partnering with the Lowell School to redevelop our schoolyard. The design includes raised garden beds, murals, a full basketball court, micro forest, and other features that will enhance the student experience and school sustainability efforts. The schoolyard will open in 2028.
Smart Smiles Dental Program
Ascension Smart Smiles is the largest provider of school-based oral health care in Wisconsin. The Smart Smiles program specializes in preventative oral health of children from birth through adolescence. Smart Smiles dental professionals make twice-yearly visits to Lowell School, providing free oral health education and screenings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and more.
Wisconsin Association of IB World Schools
The Wisconsin Association of IB World Schools exists to serve member schools across the state that are authorized providers of International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Schools meet monthly to discuss and advise one another on IB policy, technology, and best practices across the Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma programmes.
