A strong support network for James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC) students prepares them to transform their lives through college and career opportunities and become change agents in any community they call “home.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee

With safe places to learn and play, positive role models, and educational programming, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee has helped local kids and teens thrive since 1887. Learn more about how BGC supports JMAC students in becoming college and career ready through its Grad Plus  program.

Children’s Wisconsin

Therapists from Children’s Wisconsin spend two days per week at JMAC working with teachers, the school social worker, psychologist, counselor, and parent coordinator to get to know students and families. As trusted members of our school community, therapists bring age appropriate, evidence-based wellness workshops and therapies to students and families.

College Board

The education nonprofit College Board reaches more than seven million students yearly as they navigate the path from high school to college and career. College Board programs include Advanced Placement courses. JMAC educators teach Advanced Placement courses.

Employ Milwaukee

Employ Milwaukee is a local workforce development board serving Milwaukee County. Their vision is to develop workforce solutions that promote regional economic growth and employment opportunity for all job seekers. Employ Milwaukee provides wrap around career development programming to JMAC scholars in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.

Kohler Co.

Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Wisconsin, Kohler Co. is a globally renowned manufacturer of kitchen and bath plumbing and fixtures, engines and power systems, and home interior products from furniture to tiles. Kohler Co. hosts guests from around the world at its award-winning hospitality and golf destinations.

JMAC students explore careers and best practices in the hospitality and tourism industry during site tours of the American Club and Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run golf courses, hosted by Kohler Co. Kohler representatives serve on the JMAC NAF Advisory Board.

Literacy Services of Wisconsin

According to its mission, Literacy Services of Wisconsin partners with motivated adults to provide access to quality basic education and skills training so they can improve their lives, enrich their families, and strengthen the community. Literacy Services of Wisconsin provides adult literacy classes to JMAC parents and family members.

Milwaukee Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

According to its mission, Milwaukee AHEC strives to increase the diversity and distribution of health professionals through strategic partnerships to improve the health outcomes in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Milwaukee AHEC partners with JMAC and other Milwaukee Public Schools to bring HOSA Future Health Professionals chapters to students enrolled in the district’s health sciences career academies, empowering students to “become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.”

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)

MATC is a two-year institution that offers more than 170 degree, diploma, and certificate programs. MATC has numerous four-year transfer partners, including pathways through guaranteed admission agreements with four-year colleges and universities. MATC offers dual-enrollment courses to MPS students through Start College Now, transcripted credits, and the M3 College Connections program.

MATC is one of three lead partners of the M3 initiative (M-Cubed). Along with Milwaukee Public Schools and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, this collaboration is dedicated to transforming the future of Milwaukee through education. One facet of M3 is the College Connections Program, which provides dual enrollment courses so MPS students can earn high school and college credit at the same time.

Milwaukee Christian Center (MCC)

According to its mission, the MCC focuses on building strong neighborhoods full of opportunity throughout the City of Milwaukee in four core areas: youth development, housing, older adults, and food security. The Milwaukee Christian Center hosts the Violence Free Zone (VFZ) at JMAC.

Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership

JMAC is proud to be a member of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership (MCSP). Through MCSP, our students, families, teachers, staff, neighbors, and partners come together to form a strategy that best meets the needs of our students.

The MCSP is made up of three key partners with the core values of shared leadership, equity, and cultural relevance:

  • Milwaukee Public Schools
  • Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association
  • United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County

Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD)

Established in 1875, the MFD employs approximately 700 firefighters — many of them trained to work as paramedics — operating 30 fire stations and engines, 13 paramedic units, eight trucks, six battalion chiefs, and two heavy-rescue operations. Through its Fire Cadet program, MFD firefighters provide mentorship, education and training, and certification opportunities to JMAC students exploring careers in the health sciences or as first responders.

Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association  (MTEA)

Members of the MTEA are the educators who work directly with the students who attend Milwaukee’s public schools. Collectively they advocate for quality public education in Milwaukee. As advocates for educators, they are advocates for all children. They are here to lead the dialogue, to challenge, to support and work for change — ensuring a better future for their members and the students and families they serve. The MTEA is a lead partner of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.

NAF

The NAF program offers career courses and training, mentorship and internship experiences, and more to prepare students for college and career. Select MPS high schools offer different career academies. JMAC has two NAF academies: Academy of Health Sciences and Academy of Hospitality and Tourism.

One on One Learning

One on One Learning leverages data-driven strategies to improve student performance metrics, such as graduation rates, standardized test scores, and college readiness, effectively demonstrating its impact on critical district goals. One on One Learning is JMAC’s academic partner through the MPS During-School Tutoring program.

Ovation Communities

The Milwaukee-based Jewish Home and Care Center — part of the Ovation Communities network — provides skilled nursing care including short-term rehabilitation, long-term care services, and physical, occupational, and speech therapies to residential and outpatient clients.

JMAC students explore health sciences career opportunities and best practices at the Jewish Home and Care Center including resume and interview preparation, skill building, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

School Community Partnership for Mental Health

Since 2009, the School Community Partnership for Mental Health (SCPMH) has provided intensive, on-site mental wellness programs and mental health services to students and families in Milwaukee Public Schools. The partnership began in just four schools and has now expanded to nearly 40 schools.

SecureFutures

Founded in 2006, SecureFutures is a financial literacy program that brings web-based tools for goal-setting and money management, a national curriculum, and dedicated volunteers to nearly 200 high schools nationwide. As SecureFuture’s largest education partner, MPS requires all students complete a personal finance class in order to receive their high school diplomas. JMAC juniors and seniors participate in SecureFutures programming through our school’s College and Career Center.

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County

An independently-governed 501(c)3 nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,400 local United Ways through United Way Worldwide, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County focuses its work on local solutions for local problems. The United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County is a lead partner of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM)

UWM provides an affordable, world-class education to 23,000 students from 86 countries. As one of the nation’s top research universities, UWM partners with leading companies in Wisconsin and beyond to advance knowledge, bring new discoveries to market and prepare students for work in a global economy.

UWM is one of three lead partners of the M3 initiative (M-Cubed). YWCA Southeast Wisconsin

According to its mission, YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. YWCA Southeast Wisconsin is JMAC’s partner organization through the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.
