Activities at James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC) encourage our scholars to develop as performers, sharpen their communication skills, network, and gain insight into who they are and where they want to go after high school.
Parents and caregivers, please join us in encouraging your student’s participation in Madison Knights extracurricular activities. Research shows student involvement is related to increased academic performance, increased attendance, and other positive outcomes for youth.
Most clubs meet once per week or twice per month. Contact a JMAC counselor or teacher for more information.
Community School Youth Council
The Community School Youth Council (CSYC) is an integral part of the community school model. Youth leaders from all grades meet weekly to discuss important issues affecting the James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC) community. Together, council members develop, discuss, and implement plans to address them. Our Youth Council is open to all students who want to build a better JMAC.
Students may also serve on our Community School Leadership Team and attend Community School Youth Leadership Summits to collaborate with and learn from student leaders across the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.
Senior Board
The Senior Board is a group of nine senior students elected by classmates to represent each year’s graduating class. These students make key decisions for their peers: selecting the prom theme, designing the senior t-shirt, and planning various senior activities. The Senior Board ensures that senior year is memorable and reflective of their class’s collective spirit and preferences.
Yearbook
Students get creative, make lifelong memories, and flex their communication, design, photography, and publication skills as a member of the JMAC yearbook staff.
Milwaukee AHEC Youth Health Service Corps (YHSC)
Members organize community blood drives at JMAC, network and learn during field trips to Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin and other healthcare institutions, and participate in activities aligned with our school’s NAF Academy of Health Sciences.
Twilight Center
Milwaukee Recreation and JMAC host a Twilight Center at the school select weeknights and Saturdays. Twilight Centers welcome youth ages 12 to 18 for free and fun programming in a safe and casual setting. Activities include basketball, gaming, arts and entertainment workshops, and more.
