NAF Academies

Milwaukee Marshall High School’s NAF academies prepare students for college, careers, and future success through hands-on, career-focused learning.

NAF academies are small learning communities within public high schools. Based on their interests, students choose a pathway and train for their future careers. Academies help shape diverse, well-prepared workforces in fast-growing industries through coursework and hands-on experiences like:

Graduation rate among NAF seniors

NAF Academy of Audio/Video

Students are guided through the process of creating video, from using cameras to planning, managing, and producing a video shoot to editing. Courses include:

  • Digital Video Production
  • Intro to e-Production
  • Broadcasting

NAF Academy of Engineering

Students experience the design process by researching global issues, breaking them into smaller problems, and finding sustainable solutions. Courses include:

  • Introduction to Engineering
  • Exploring Computer Science
  • Principles of Engineering
  • Environmental Sustainability

Project Lead The Way incorporates project-based science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning into the classroom. The program develops problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and encourages students to explore careers in technology and engineering fields.

NAF Academy of Health Sciences

This academy shapes the next generation of health professionals. Through hands-on experiences and career-centered courses and activities, students develop a knowledge base and skills that prepare them to thrive in diverse and rewarding healthcare jobs. Courses include:

  • Global Health Careers
  • Principles in Biomed
  • Medical Interventions
  • Immunology

NAF Academy of Information Technology

This academy shapes the next generation of information technology professionals. Through hands-on experiences and career-centered courses and activities that can include coding, graphic design, and robotics, students develop a knowledge base and skills that prepare them for exciting college and career opportunities in this rapidly growing field.
