Enrollment

Our inclusive, international, and diverse learning community welcomes new students in younger grades.

Families of K4 to first-grade students can follow the MPS Online Enrollment process to request a seat for their child. Students enrolling in grades two through five require prior German-language experience.

Enrollment FAQ

What happens if MGIS has more applicants than open seats?
Students are randomly selected by computer lottery when there are more applicants than open seats. Students who are not assigned to MGIS during the lottery process will be placed on a waiting list for the upcoming year.

What is the enrollment timeline?
February is the enrollment period for MPS kindergarten programs. Watch our school and district website for updates.

What happens when a family misses the enrollment deadline?
Families can apply to MGIS through August. We do not accept students mid-year.

Can families who live outside Milwaukee apply to MGIS?
Yes, but they must complete both the MPS Online Enrollment process and Department of Public Instruction open enrollment process.

What is the process for enrolling children who have prior German-language experience in grades two and above?
Please contact Parent Coordinator Ed Possing at possine@milwaukee.k12.wi.us or (414) 393-5604.
