The family voice is always welcomed. We believe that we are a team and that the school and family need to work side-by-side to help our Mitchell children to grow in their learning each and every day. As a community school, we welcome parents and caregivers to join our Family Leadership Organization, which meets monthly. Parent volunteers are in our building every day. Ask our Parent Coordinator Yeimina Rivera how you can get involved!
We also believe that students need to be supported socially and emotionally. Teachers begin every school day with restorative circles. Circle time involves a question of the day, anything from “What’s your favorite food?” to “How are you feeling today?” Circle time reminds students that their voices and their feelings are valued every day. How a student feels has a great impact on their learning. We want students to feel supported and comfortable in their classrooms so that they can learn to their full potential.
We hope that you find Mitchell a welcoming place to be and that you decide to stay at Mitchell for your child’s entire K-8 experience. Every adult and every child are valued for their input, strengths, and individuality. At Mitchell, we are here to work with you and your child every step of the way.
