Educational Philosophy: In my role as a Special Education teacher it is important to keep in mind that every student is an individual that comes from a different background with unique skill sets. No two students will ever be the same or need the same type of instruction. I believe it is important to adapt to any situation and deliver the best possible instruction to every student. I believe that every student has the ability to be successful.

About Me: I have been teaching at Mitchell for 13 years. I started my teaching career as a Chicago Public Schools 4th grade teacher. I have always been an urban educator. I chose to move to Milwaukee to help my elderly mother when my last child went to college. A fun fact is that I grew up and spent my fisrt 18 years on 21st and Mitchell. I am a child of this neighborhood and went to Kindergarten at Mitchell. I have had a deep connection to Mitchell and the neighborhood my whole life. My entire extended family lived in this neighborhood.

I have simple pleasures and hobbies. I love any activity that includes water; I swim, fish, and kayak. I love to read. I have four children (all grown): a son and three daughters. I know first hand the struggles that students can expeirence when they have an educational disability as one of my own was diagnosed with one. She is now completing her Master’s Degree. As an educator and a mother I have been able to truly understand what parents experience since I walked the same path. I feel truly honored to teach at Mitchell as I love the students and have very close friends on the staff!
