Mitchell serves over 800 students from K3 through eighth grade, offering bilingual, as well as English-only classes. Although Mitchell is a large school, our approach is to offer a warm and caring environment that celebrates each individual adult and child. We want our families to feel welcome in our school. We are your school and we are here for you! My name is Kim Malacara and I am the proud principal of Mitchell. Our vision at Mitchell is to engage students in student-centered learning that encourages student voice, questions, and extends learning beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n

The family voice is always welcomed. We believe that we are a team and that the school and family need to work side-by-side to help our Mitchell children to grow in their learning each and every day. We welcome parents and caregivers to join our Family Leadership Organization, which meets monthly. Parent volunteers are in our building every day. Ask our Parent Coordinator Yeimina Rivera how you can get involved!<\/p>\n

We also believe that students need to be supported socially and emotionally. Teachers begin every school day with restorative circles. Circle time involves a question of the day, anything from \u201cWhat\u2019s your favorite food?\u201d to \u201cHow are you feeling today?\u201d Circle time reminds students that their voices and their feelings are valued every day. How a student feels has a great impact on their learning. We want students to feel supported and comfortable in their classrooms so that they can learn to their full potential.<\/p>\n

We hope that you find Mitchell a welcoming place to be and that you decide to stay at Mitchell for your child\u2019s entire K-8 experience. Every adult and every child are valued for their input, strengths, and individuality. At Mitchell, we are here to work with you and your child every step of the way.<\/p>\n

Mitchell serves over 700 students from grades K3 through 8th grade, offering bilingual, as well as English-only classes. Although Mitchell is a large school, our approach is to offer a warm and caring environment that celebrates each individual adult and child. We want our families to feel welcome in our school. We are your school and we are here for you! My name is Kim Malacara and I am the proud principal of Mitchell. Our vision at Mitchell is to engage students in student-centered learning, that encourages student voice, questions and extends learning beyond the classroom. We value students for their strengths and help them grow toward their academic and personal goals.\n\nFamily input is always welcomed. We believe that we are a team and that the school and family need to work side-by-side to help our Mitchell children to grow in their learning each and every day.\n\nCurrently, we are teaching virtually. We have clear systems in place that ensure that all students are being taught important grade-level standards each day and are being supported through valuable teacher feedback on a daily basis. Our teachers utilize instructional technology and strategies that engage students online through face-to-face instruction, promoting online discussions, and assisting students to meet the goals of each lesson.\n\nWe also believe that students need to be supported socially and emotionally, which is why we integrate into our lessons student check-ins to ensure that students are doing ok every day.
