Gearbox Labs, Inc. is a nonprofit that provides STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) educational resources for K\u201312 students and educators. The Gearbox Labs curriculum has been used by more than 30 schools in Milwaukee County.<\/p>\n
Playworks Wisconsin\u202fgives kids foundational skills for success on the playground, in the classroom, and in the community. It is a national organization that leverages play to promote healthy behaviors and increase social and emotional learning at recess and throughout the school day. More than 1,000 Wisconsin kids serve as Junior Coach student leaders on the playground by leading games and modeling positive sporting behavior for their peers.<\/p>\n
Playgrounds across MPS are greener and healthier thanks to a partnership with Reflo. This environmental nonprofit works with other organizations to design, construct, and renovate MPS schoolyards like ours, which will open in 2027. Reflo combines environmental education, water management, and child\u2019s play to create greener, healthier playgrounds. Each project is tailored to the specific needs and enthusiasm of the school\u2019s community and can include outdoor classrooms, recreational facilities, and arts opportunities.<\/p>\n
