Congratulations to the Morse Chess Team!!!Fab Chess Weekend! Impressive! So Proud!!
Syresa Scott and Taz Thao celebrated their one year chess club anniversary by winning individual trophies in their high level k12 tournaments.
Syresa took 3rd place in the All Girls State Championships, outplaying three long time Chess stars with over 1000 WSCF rating. These gals have played since they were in kindergarten. Syresa’s victories were incredible and earned the attention of the WSCF organizers.
Taz and Ben Thao both won four matches to lead the Morse Team to a tie for second place in the Siloah Open K12 Tournament. The following players all had incredible victories against long time chess stars:
Taz Thao
Ben Thao
Aries Moua
Jaedyn Xiong
Byron Morton
Breon Whitehead (after basketball)
Congratulations Gents!!!
Syresa enjoyed company at the All Girls Chess Championships. Miracle Morton was her open level teammate. Denasia Clifton, Amaria Beachamp, and Joyce Pugh entered in the k7 comp. This was Joyce’s first tournament, and she came home with two match wins! The best of the best showed up for the Girls meet so I am so proud of the gals taking on the challenge against such experienced players.
The team took 2nd again behind Whitefish Bay in the online tournament on Sunday. Congratulations to Ben, Taz, Syresa, Ian Hang and Aries for their strong showing!
