Students at Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School can access online and print immersion-education resources to practice Spanish and build literacy skills at home.
Clever Access and Applications

- Select “Log in with Google”
- Enter your child’s username and password
- Choose an application and have fun!
- Imagine Español is a personalized application that accelerates grade-level reading and language proficiency in Spanish for kindergarten to second-grade students. Imagine Español teaches foundational literacy skills in an engaging, game-like environment that celebrates the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
- Istation is a reading intervention. Istation’s authentic Spanish literacy instruction is engaging: interactive practice, digital books, and more. Students begin with a 20-minute assessment called the “Istation Indicator of Progress (ISIP).” The ISIP identifies your child’s instructional level and measures their progress. Students will retake the ISIP to track their improvement and adjust their instructional level.
- Learning A to Z provides access to more than 1,000 leveled readers in multiple genres and formats. Students can listen to the books to increase background knowledge before reading on their own. As students read and pass comprehension quizzes, they are moved to higher leveled texts.
- Mango Languages builds the six critical skills necessary for true language learning: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, culture, comprehension, and retention.
Videos
- Learn to Read with the Syllable Monkey – This YouTube playlist introduces young readers to Mono Sílabo and Nícola Caverníco who guide them on an exploration of syllables and simple words. Videos teach and review how syllables are formed by joining a consonant with each of the five vowels (a, e, i, o, u). Reading the various syllables begins the process of decoding new words while reading. Children sing a funny song at the end of each video to celebrate and memorize their new knowledge.
- Spanish Letter Sounds – This video explains Spanish letter names and sounds. Music, repetition, and movement help students learn and memorize as they follow along.
Printed Resources
Ask your child’s classroom teacher or our parent coordinator for access to printed take-home resources.
- Vocabulary flashcards – Present your child with a visual card and have them say the word and act it out.
- Sight word flashcards – Present your child with a word card. When they read the word correctly, move on to the next word card. Begin with 10 cards, practicing them daily for one week. When your child has mastered those 10 words, add 10 more words to the deck, learning the new ones and practicing the old ones.
- Printed Istation or Reading A to Z books – Have your child read the same book every night for one week. At the end of the week ask your child about the story.
