About

Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School education prepares young learners for middle and high school success—and life and leadership in a global society.

Our dual-campus community promotes diversity, appreciation for the Hispanophone world, and academic achievement.

Our Spanish Immersion Program teaches students to read, write, and speak in Spanish, starting in K4. English-language instruction begins in second grade. Immersion education challenges students to develop powerful multilingual communication abilities and so much more.

  • Exploring a new language encourages children to share their culture and appreciate other cultures and communication styles.
  • Studying core content in an immersion setting promotes fast and flexible thinking, stronger working memory, and supports academic achievement in all subjects.
  • Growing up bilingual and bicultural boosts confidence and creativity.

Mission

Our mission is to create a nurturing learning environment for all.

Vision

We envision that within five years, MSIS will maximize all students’ academic and social potential with an emphasis on cultures from the Spanish-speaking world. Every student will be socially equipped to respect all individuals and to appreciate each other’s differences. Students in our immersion program, within seven years, will reach proficient levels in Spanish and English. MSIS students will become world ambassadors who will raise cultural and social awareness.

Values

  • Diversity of languages, individuals, and cultures within the Spanish-speaking global community
  • A safe, supportive, and respectful environment for the equality of our school community
  • Adults partnerships in the education of all students at MSIS
