Re: COLLEGE LEVEL COURSEWORK OPPORTUNITIES

In preparation for summer and the next school year, we want to make certain that you are aware of college level programs that you might want to include as part of your high school schedule, i.e. the Early College Credit Program and Start College Now. With these opportunity, if approved, MPS will pay course tuition for a class at a local college or university.

College Courses Taken at Local Universities, Colleges, and Technical Colleges (2 and 4 Year) If your high school coursework has prepared you to take college level work at this point, you may qualify for the Early College Credit Program and take coursework for both high school and college credit. You will not be required to pay the tuition fees. Books may also be covered. Please be aware of the following credit equivalency for Early College Credit Programs. College course credit equivalent: .75 high school units for a 3 credit course or .25 units per 1 credit earned.

  • Criteria:
    1. Successful academic performance (a min. 3.0 cumulative GPA is recommended)
    2. Student and counselor are required to review and exhaust all course options within Milwaukee Public Schools (i.e. AP courses offered in MPS High Schools) comparable courses offered in the district will not be approved
