22nd Annual MPS District-Wide Prom For Students With Disabilities

Washington High School is hosting the 22nd annual MPS District-Wide Prom for students with unique needs and abilities on Friday, April 11th, 2025. It starts at 6:30 PM and ends at 9:30 PM. The theme is “A Night in Emerald City,” inspired by the movies/musicals: The Wizard of Oz and Wicked. The Community/Transition Resource Fair will be held from 6:00 PM- 7:30 PM.
At our last event in March 2024, upwards of 200 students, family members, and MPS alumni from thirteen MPS schools and other area schools, attended our “Prom in Paradise.” Roughly 90 volunteers including students, teachers, administrators, MPS Central Office staff, community members and community agencies came to help decorate, chaperone, and provide vital community information and resources at the prom.
We hope to make this year bigger and better, and we need your help! Please share information with all students and their families, who you believe would benefit from a safe, judgment-free and inclusive environment where students can celebrate, dance, and experience the joy of this special occasion.
Tickets are $5.00 and RSVPS are requested by Friday, April 4 for DINNER PLANNING PURPOSES.
Dresses, Clothing and Glam Room:
- We have donated dresses. Here is link to the dress “catalogue:” WHS Dress Catalogue(Colors on doc are not the best- sorry) Our volunteers are about 90% through the collection and will add new dresses in a NEW DRESS SECTION as they are donated. We also have dress pants, shirts, suit jackets, ties and dress shoes. Please contact us with clothing requests and we can deliver some options. WE ARE IN NEED OF PLUS SIZE DRESSES. If you know of anyone, who may be able to donate, please reach out and let us know.
- The Glam Room will be available night of prom for minor hair, make-up, and accessorizing. Dresses, ties, dress shirts, jackets, pants, shoes are also available.
Community Resource/Transition Fair:
- The Community Resource/Transition Fair will be from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM: There will be so much great information available to students, parents/guardians and staff about transition. If parents are transporting students to the prom, please stop in and check out the Resource Fair.
- We have about 20 agencies committed to coming to the resource fair.
