Welcome to a new chapter at Milwaukee Sign Language School. My name is Trina Smith and I am the proud principal with over 23 years of service with Milwaukee Public Schools.

Our goal this year is simple: to make this a school where every single student feels safe, valued, and excited to learn. We are focusing on kindness, high expectations, and celebrating the growth of every student, every day.

As an instructional leader, my first responsibility is to foster a professional community that promotes each student’s academic success and well-being. I believe in working alongside teachers to support instructional excellence and in using data-driven goals to accelerate student achievement. My leadership centers on building trust, encouraging collaboration, and creating a safe and caring environment where students and staff embrace high expectations and celebrate successes along the way.

Every student at Milwaukee Sign Language can succeed, but it requires that we all—staff, parents, and students—commit to improving attendance, coming to school prepared, and focusing on daily improvement.
