Welcome to North Division High School, where we have been educating Milwaukee families for more than a century. My name is Jason McCord, and 2024-25 marks my third year as North Division principal and my seventh year as a member of the Blue Devils community.
“Community” is a word that drives North Division. We’re a member of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership. A team of nonprofit partners and neighborhood supporters cheer on North Division scholars every day, bringing additional resources and role models into our school. Our staff is community. They are dedicated, and together we dream big and we hold our scholars to high standards inside and outside the classroom. My goal is to see North Division become a National Blue Ribbon School.
About me: I began my career more than 30 years ago as a physical education teacher and coach of all sports: basketball, football, track and field. Family and mentors encouraged my move into administration. I attended Rust College for my undergraduate education, and have earned two master’s degrees: curriculum and instruction from National Louis University and educational administration from Concordia University Wisconsin.
Today, I’m honored to coach young lives as a principal and build a strong team — surrounding myself with talented leaders and educators who play off one another’s strengths. North Division Assistant Principal Robin Bradford is one of them. My predecessor, the late Keith Carrington, made me a stronger leader. His favorite saying inspires me to this day: “Don’t believe everything you hear. Believe what you see.”
There is a lot to see at North Division this year. A new fieldhouse. Resurfaced track and tennis courts. A greenhouse and redeveloped schoolyard. And, our student body. They are learning the basics of construction, repairing bicycles, lifting their voices in our expanding music program, serving on school leadership teams, and preparing for college in dual enrollment and advanced placement courses. Let’s cheer them on, together.
We look forward to seeing you at North Division. Please contact our main office or view our events calendar to plan your visit.
Sincerely,
Jason McCord, principal
