Casimir Pulaski High School’s bilingual program embraces the International Baccalaureate philosophy of global mindedness. Students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of their own culture, experience other cultures, and pursue academic excellence in two languages.
All educators teach the same subjects, use the same academic standards, and use appropriate assessments to prepare students to meet graduation-day goals and more. Pulaski’s bilingual program graduates may earn the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy, college scholarships, or land rewarding jobs that require bilingual and multicultural communication skills.
In Pulaski’s bilingual classrooms:
- English learners receive extra support from English as a Second Language teachers (ESL).
- Native Spanish speakers develop high levels of Spanish and English language proficiency and a high level of literacy in both languages.
In Pulaski’s English as a Second Language classrooms:
- Students from diverse language backgrounds receive English language development instruction and support in the content areas.
- Students are challenged academically while acquiring English.
Parents and families can receive updates, phone calls, and announcements in Spanish or English, and interpreters are available for school events and celebrations. Bilingual office staff create a welcoming atmosphere for all families, guests, and visitors.
