I am Ms. D. Ellis, the proud principal of Rufus King International Middle School. With 23 years of experience in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and a dedication to King Middle School since 2022, I am thrilled to lead our community. Throughout my career, I have witnessed young people achieve remarkable accomplishments, and I firmly believe in the unlimited potential of our youth.

I have had the privilege of serving in various roles, including assistant principal, school counselor, and classroom instructor, primarily at the high school level. As a leader, I am committed to fostering an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive.

We are dedicated to preparing our students to become lifelong learners who make a positive impact in our global society. To achieve this, we will:

• Support the social and emotional well-being of our students
• Promote academic excellence and critical thinking
• Build partnerships with families to enhance our students’ success
• Offer instructional pathways focused on STEMS and IB to develop essential skills for future academics and career exploration
• Implement Restorative Practices to build a positive school culture, address conflicts in a productive and respectful manner, and promote accountability, healing, and healthy relationships within our school community

I am excited to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve our shared goals and make this year our best one yet! Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
