To be promoted from eighth grade to ninth grade, students must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Academic performance is the first criterion we consider. Academic performance is defined as proficiency in reading, writing, English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Academic performance is measured and defined by classroom assessments based on district-adopted standards.
- Test results will be considered if the academic performance criterion is not met. Test results must demonstrate a proficiency level of basic or above, which is measured and defined by the Wisconsin Forward Exam in reading, writing, English language arts, mathematics, science, and social sciences.
- Teacher recommendation will be considered if the academic performance criterion is not met. Recommendations are determined by a school-based team that includes classroom teacher(s) and uses district guidelines.
To participate in the eighth-grade completion ceremony, students must complete eighth grade by meeting one of the criteria described above, in addition to meeting three additional criteria:
- No final report card grades less than a Basic. ALL classwork completed ten days prior to the completion ceremony date.
- All student fees are paid in full.
- No suspensions and less than two office discipline referrals for the fourth quarter or satisfactorily fulfill a behavior contract with school administration.
